Tambo municipality is located in the south-western part of Colombia and is considered the agricultural pantry for the Cauca department and Popayan metropolitan area. The closeness with the Colombian Massif offers the region important agro-environmental benefits, allowing the region to be the first Chontaduro (exotic fruit) producer for the country. We can find good production of coffee and many other agricultural products. Cofinet has been working with coffee farmers from this region since 2018. Cofinet have made an impact in this region as they have been the first to pay above the coffee market price based on quality. Producers are very small and so is their production – they only grow Castillo and own less than 1-hectare sized farms. Cofinet assists them to improve their crops by technical assistance that our team provides.
