Sítio Maranhão – Award-Winning Brazilian Specialty Coffee
Award-Winning Coffee from Brazil's Volcanic Region
Sítio Maranhão is a small family-run coffee farm in the volcanic mountains of Caldas, in Brazil's Região Vulcânica. The area's elevation, mild climate, and rich biodiversity provide a distinctive setting for producing exceptional specialty coffee.
The dedication of Edivair and Luciane was recognised once again in 2025, when their coffee placed third in the Especialíssimo Competition with a cupping score above 90 points.
A Family Dedicated to Quality
Behind Sítio Maranhão are Edivair and Luciane, who have spent years rebuilding their farm and refining their approach to coffee production.
Their work combines hand-picking, carefully managed Natural processing, modern drying facilities, and ongoing reforestation projects. By focusing on both cultivation and processing, they continue to develop coffees of exceptional quality.
Their competition results reflect this commitment. Sítio Maranhão achieved first place in 2021, second place in 2024, and third place in 2025 at the Especialíssimo competition. The family has therefore secured a podium finish in three different editions.
The Character of Brazil's Região Vulcânica
The coffee grows in the volcanic mountains around Caldas, an area known for its distinctive landscape and natural environment. The combination of local growing conditions, producer expertise, and careful processing gives this single-origin coffee its own identity.
With Sítio Maranhão, you discover not only a distinctive Brazilian specialty coffee, but also the story of the family behind every harvest.
About the Especialíssimo Programme
Especialíssimo is a specialty coffee programme developed by Cooxupé and SMC to support Brazilian coffee producers in improving quality and bringing exceptional coffees to market.
The programme combines training, technical guidance, and quality assessments. Top coffees are selected through blind cupping sessions conducted by an expert jury, and producers achieving outstanding results receive recognition for their work.
Sítio Maranhão's competition results highlight the quality the family has developed over the years.
